Public consultation on the draft ECB Guide on climate-related and environmental risks

This consultation gives interested parties the opportunity to comment on the ECB Guide on climate-related and environmental risks.

Deadline for submitting comments: midnight CET on 25 September 2020.

Draft ECB Guide on climate-related and environmental risks

The Guide outlines the ECB’s understanding of the safe and prudent management of climate-related and environmental risks under the current prudential framework. It describes how the ECB expects institutions to:

  1. consider climate-related and environmental risks when formulating and implementing their business strategy and governance and risk management frameworks
  2. become more transparent on their exposure to such risks by enhancing their climate-related and environmental disclosures

Industry Dialogue Webinar on 17 June 2020

As part of the consultation process, the ECB will organise an Industry Dialogue Webinar on 17 June 2020. The dialogue brings together supervisors, policymakers and banks to exchange views on the subject. The dialogue will be supported by keynote speeches and discussions involving senior representatives and specialists from supervisory authorities, banks and European and international bodies. Banks directly supervised by the ECB will receive an invitation to participate from their Joint Supervisory Team. However, note that only formal comments to the Guide submitted through the public consultation web page will be considered for the consultation.
