Draft guide to fit and proper assessments

The draft guide explains how ECB Banking Supervision evaluates the qualifications, skills and proper standing of a candidate for a position on the board of a bank, for example as chief executive officer or supervisory board member.

Note that chapters 1-4 and 7-8 of the draft guide to fit and proper assessments describe the powers, requirements and procedures included in the Capital Requirements Directive IV, SSM Regulation and SSM Framework Regulation issued by the European legislator (European Commission, Council of the European Union, European Parliament and European Central Bank). These acts are not the subject matter of this consultation.

Public hearing

The ECB will hold a public hearing at its premises in Frankfurt am Main on 13 January 2017.

The event will comprise a presentation followed by a question and answer session in English.
