Who is responsible for processing your personal data?

The ECB is the controller for the processing of personal data. The Deputy Director General Communications is responsible for the unit tasked with processing the personal data. Only authorised staff members will have access to your personal data.

In addition, Campaign Monitor, a company headquartered in New South Wales, Australia, processes your data on behalf of, and only when instructed to do so by, the ECB.

Why are we processing your personal data?

Your personal data are collected to manage subscriptions to and the distribution of the Supervision Newsletter.

What is the legal framework for the processing?

Your personal data will be processed in accordance with data protection law. This processing is based on your consent. Subscribing to the Supervision Newsletter, by submitting your personal data, is voluntary. If you do not wish to submit your personal data, you will not be able to subscribe.

Where are your data transferred, processed and stored?

Campaign Monitor may transfer, process and store your data in the United States, Australia or anywhere else in the world where Campaign Monitor, its affiliates or its sub-processors maintain data processing operations. The transfer of personal data to Campaign Monitor does not benefit from data protection safeguards and is only covered by your consent, which you give by subscribing to the newsletter. Please note that if you withdraw your consent, your data will be deleted. Further information related to this processing of your personal data can be found in Campaign Monitor’s privacy policy. Your personal data are also stored in the ECB’s document management system.

Which categories of data are collected?

The following personal data are collected:

  • your name (first name and surname)
  • email address
  • organisation
  • sector
  • country
  • topics of interest (if applicable)

How long do we keep your data?

The personal data will be retained in Campaign Monitor’s database and in the ECB’s document management system for as long as you are subscribed to the Supervision Newsletter. If you choose to unsubscribe, your personal data will be deleted within two months. Please note that you may withdraw your consent to the processing of your data at any time. Future processing of your personal data will cease once the withdrawal of your consent has been received and prior processing will remain lawful.

What are your rights and how can you exercise them?

You have the right to access and rectify your personal data. With some exceptions, you also have the right to erase your personal data and restrict its processing.
