About the ECB
We work to keep prices stable in the euro area. We do this so that you will be able to buy as much with your money tomorrow as you can today.
We also contribute to the safety and soundness of the European banking system. This helps to ensure that your money stays safe in the bank.
At the ECB, we work closely with all national central banks in the euro area and together with them forms a group called the Eurosystem. We also have regular contact with all national central banks in the EU in a network called the European System of Central Banks.
As a result, many staff members are in frequent contact with colleagues and counterparts from the national central banks.
